early animation devices

Zoetrope is a 19th century optical toy consisting of a cylinder with series of pictures on the inside of it .


phenakistoscope was an animation device that used to persistence of vision principle to create an illusion of motion.

kinetoscope is an early motion picture exhiibion device it was designed for films to be voiewed by one individual at a time through a peephole.


mutoscope was an early motion device. it did not project on a screen and provided viewing only one individual at a time.

  1. Ammaan - you have shown examples of each of these four early animation devices and made a brief comment as to each. However, at this level , we expect more detail as to how something works, when it was popular etc.
